Differences
1. Ventilation
Both these thermostats, Honeywell Lyric T5 and Honeywell Lyrix T6 differ in the way they support ventilation. The Honeywell Lyric T5 does not support the U terminals i.e. the Universal Relay for ventilation. On the other hand, the ventilation equipment in case of the Honeywell T6 Pro gets controlled with ERV (Energy Recovery Ventilator)/ HRV (Heat Recovery Ventilator) or damper.
2. Dual Fuel
Compatibility with a dual fuel system allows a thermostat to do its heating job more efficiently. It also provides the economic energy used by the device. The dual fuel heating system works by combining a heating pump with a gas furnace.
Thus, being compatible with a dual fuel system is indeed a plus point for any thermostat. The Honeywell Lyric T6 Pro is compatible with most of the dual fuel systems in the market. On the other hand, the Honeywell Lyric T5 does not support dual fuel systems and thus, lags behind in this regard.
However, we recommend you to get the configuration of the system done by a professional if you have the Honeywell T6 Pro device. Because an inappropriate setup can damage your system.
3. Wired Sensors
The Honeywell Lyric T5 thermostat and the Honeywell Lyrix T6 differ in the way they deal with wired sensors. The Universal Input i.e. the S terminal used for indoor and outdoor sensors is not compatible with the Honeywell Lyric T5 Wi-Fi thermostat. On the other hand, the Honeywell Lyric T6 Pro Wi-Fi thermostat uses the S/S terminals for the purposes of both the conventional and the heat systems.
4. Colour
For the people who prioritise the appearance of their homes, the colour of their devices may be an important point while choosing an appliance for their home. If you have a Honeywell T5 Wi-Fi thermostat, you will only get it in black colour. And if you get the Honeywell T6 Pro Wi-Fi thermostat, you have only one colour option i.e. black. Since these thermostats do not differ much in their functionalities, you can choose the one that fits in well with your house interiors.
5. Installation Process
The two Wi-Fi thermostats also differ in the way of their installation. While the Honeywell Lyric T5 comes with a DIY installation process, the installation of the Honeywell Lyrix T6 is much complex. In the former case, you can easily install the device on your own. It also has user guide to help you do the installation without difficulty. On the other hand, if you have the Honeywell Lyric T6 Pro thermostat, you will need the help of a professional to do the installing for you as the process is quite complex.
6. Warranty
The period of warranty with these two devices is not a definite one. It basically depends on two factors that are, from where you have bought the device and secondly, how you get it installed. In normal case, you get two-year retail warranty and five years trade warranty with both these devices. The period begins not on the day you buy the device but on the day you actually install it in your house.
If you buy these thermostats from professional contractor and seek their help in the installation, only then you can enjoy the five-year warranty. Otherwise, you will get only two -warranty.
