Differences
1. Geofencing
Geofencing is the feature that helps your device to detect movement in its defined zone. Arlo Pro 2 out of the box provides you with geofencing. When you go away from a certain radius of your home, the Arlo Pro 2 gets a track of you through your location.
2. Storage
The Reolink Argus 2 features only local storage for now and do not have any cloud storage option. But it has an SD card slot to record and store videos. You can check the video clips via the Reolink app, assuming the camera is connected to your Wi-Fi network.
Storing video locally secures your privacy and prevents potential breaches. But using an SD card for storage limits your storage capacity to a great extent. You will also not have any backup in case of losing the SD card and making it vulnerable at last.
The Arlo Pro 2 camera offers cloud storage and also has an optional local room. The Arlo Pro 2, by Default, uses cloud storage. The USB local storage can be kept as a secondary option.
3. Motion Zones
With motion zones, you can focus the cameras from where you want to receive sound and motion alerts. You can make up to 3-motion zones with the Pro 2. This feature is beneficial when there are multiple things to focus upon. Both cameras, the Reolink Argus 2 and Arlo Pro 2, have motion detection. The sensitivity of the motion sensor can be adjusted from the app to reduce false alarms.
Besides this necessary motion detection, the Arlo Pro 2 offers advanced motion detection. Features like a 3-second preview and motion zones included in it. The Reolink Argus 2 doesn’t have such custom motion detection zones to date.
4. CVR
Arlo Pro 2 offers 24/7 continuous video recording and streaming. So keeps out your fear of missing out on anything. But this option consumes a lot of power. You have to plug in to enable this CVR option. Still, it’s better than Reolink Argus 2 in this respect too. Reolink Argus 2 does not have any such choices to avail of. 24/7 CVR requires a lot of storage space and thus comes as a cloud storage facility at extra cost. Arlo Pro 2 provides an option of 14 days of 24/7 CVR storage and 30 days of 24/7 CVR storage.
5. Frames Per Second
There is a noticeable difference between these two products in terms of FPS. Even though both have 1080p recording, Arlo Pro 2 can capture videos at an amazing 30 frames per second. Thus can capture more details every second,
Whereas the Argus 2 captures at 15 FPS., This is exactly half of Arlo’s Frame rate. Lesser the FPS, laggier, and blurry the video looks. This disadvantage of having lower FPS. It gets more prominent when the camera tries to capture fast-moving objects. Argus 2 will have a lesser possibility of capturing the object. Thus making it difficult to identify the person or small details. Whereas with the Arlo Pro 2 with it’s double the FPS, it gives you a better view of actions in front of it
6. Base Station
The Arlo Pro 2 needs the Arlo Pro Base Station to work. Whereas, the Reolink Argus 2 is simple to set up and does not require a base station. Just connect the Argus 2 to your Wi-Fi network through the Reolink app, and you’re all set.
But, in Arlo Pro 2, the Kit has to be connected to the base station that comes with it. All Arlo wireless cameras are compatible with the Arlo Pro base station. Hence you can mix them however you want.
7. Siren
Both the Reolink Argus 2 and Arlo Pro 2 will trigger a siren if they detect motion in armed mode. The only difference is that Reolink has a siren built into the camera. At the same time, Arlo uses the Arlo Pro base station for the siren.
But Reolink Argus 2 has an inbuilt siren, so your neighbors can hear it if it is placed outside the house.
8. Video Clip Navigation
In Argus Pro, you can identify certain events with a dark line. Hence, you can save a lot of time instead of going through the videos.
Unfortunately, Arlo Pro 2 does not have this feature.
9. Color Night Vision
The Reolink Argus 2 features Starlight Night Vision, aka color night vision. With the advanced CMOS sensor, it can pick up colors at night very quickly.
The Arlo Pro 2 has an IR cut-off filter. So it can only offer black & white videos at night. Arlo Pro uses individual lights to get the colors.
10. Subscription Plans
Since there is no cloud storage option in Reolink Argus 2, there is no need for additional fees. But on the other side, Arlo offers different subscription plans. You can choose it based on the number of cameras and how long you want to store your video.
There are also business subscription plans if you want to use smart cameras in your office.
Similarities
1. Notification and Alert System
With the Argus 2 and Arlo Pro 2 cameras, you’ll never miss anyone coming to your place. The cameras send you an email or push notification as soon as it detects any motion activity to alert you. And if your cameras are in the armed mode, also a siren will get triggered.
2. Camera Video Quality
Both the Reolink Argus 2 and the Arlo Pro 2 have 1080p full HD video resolution with the 130° viewing angle. In this quality field, both have the same facilities; thus, you would not regret buying any of them. Watch explicit crystal videos in full detail.
3. Way Audio

5. Power
Wireless cameras use rechargeable batteries, which can last for 2 to 3 months on a single charge. Though it varies on how much you use the cameras. Live streaming takes a lot of power and can make the battery dead faster. Alternative green energy sources of power can be a perfect replacement for it. There is a Reolink Solar Panel in the Argus 2 camera and the Arlo Solar Panel for the Arlo Pro 2. These panels provide your cameras with a constant renewable solar source of energy.
6. Night Vision
Both Arlo Pro 2 and Reolink Argus 2 have night vision cameras. Though Argus Colored night vision mode does a better job, still Arlo Pro does not lag far behind.
7. Protection & Portability
Both cameras are weatherproof and wireless. Thus both of them are compatible outdoors and inside as well.
With wireless technology, it becomes super portable & the location doesn’t matter anymore.
