The Radon Eye is also a major part of design. It is very simple understand. Though the design is not so modern looking, it does provide some basic functionalities. Out of all best function is that you can save data on your phone. Data is mostly in graph form, so you get better idea about trend of radon gas at your property.
Performance
In addition to Radon Eye RD200 Smart Radon Gas Monitor detector, we all tested other radon detectors. When we compare it with other radon detectors, it does stand among the most accurate radon detector. For testing accuracy, we first measured the correct radon level of the test home. We used the charcoal kit, which is usually the most accurate way of detecting the radon level as the readings are lab certified.
We also closely checked out the app. One thing we didn’t like is that it requires Bluetooth pairing. Using connecting seems bit primitive because it has a limited range of 10 meters. Instead, if it had Wi-Fi connectivity, you would have been able to track the radon gas in an hour from any part of your house. If we ignore that point, the app RadonEye is very useful. Since it provides the data in the form of a graph, you are able to study the trend in a much better way. Also, you can store results on your phone. You can analyze almost 12 months of data. However, we felt that it would have been little better if the variables used for graphs were changeable. It is always gas level against time. Especially, if you plan to set up some counter system for radon, it would have been useful.
As far as the construction is concerned, it is made of plastic, and due to its cylindrical design, it is easy to handle and can be placed wherever you want. The good thing is it works on both battery and AC power supply. But we found that you are bit restricted when used it with power AC supply. So stick to batteries. Even with the battery, you get almost 2000 hours of battery life, which is good.

Installation
Since it has a cylindrical design, it can be placed on any flat surface. If you are using it with batteries, you won’t have any issue. But if you want to power it with AC supply, you will have to find the nearest power outlet. And the power cord is not that large. Beyond that, there is no effort required for installation. It is pretty much just plug and play. However, you may require one unit per room. Especially if you own a house that has carpet area more than 800 sq ft. several units are necessary. So identify your requirements before you make a purchase.
If you will be connecting your smartphone to the detector, it connects via Bluetooth only. So you will have to make sure you are within 10 meters of the unit. Once, the phone is in range, and the detector is on, you can check the list of the Bluetooth devices. Just connect to it. And the Radon Eye app is also available for free. Just download it from the play store. As soon as you open the app after the detector is connected with the phone. The app starts showing the reading within ten minutes. The minimum interval between the fresh readings is 10 minutes.
Price
When we were writing the Radon Eye RD200 Smart Radon Gas Monitor Detector review, the price of the unit was $143. When compared to other radon gas detectors, it is on the lower side because there are detectors that are around $200, but you cannot connect it to your phone. There is another version of it, Radon Eye RD200P2 Smart Radon Gas Monitor Detector which uses Wi-Fi connectivity. But it costs $420, which is way too steep for a radon detector. However, the accuracy and rest of the features are the same. But if you are planning to use it for several rooms, get the Bluetooth version because that way you would be able to deploy several one unit per room.
Our Verdict
We have tested almost 17 radon detector, and when we compare them, it is probably among the best radon detector. And when you considering the features of monitoring the radon, RD200 is the best. The app is really useful when you want to keep an eye on the radon level in your home. Also, the price tag at which it is available, it probably the most budget-friendly radon detector. So if you are considering budget, we strongly recommend Radon Eye RD200. And if you are considering Wi-Fi connectivity instead of Bluetooth go for the other version.

As a home inspector looking to do Radon testing, I’d like to know if the Raydon Eye records any vibrations from it being tampered with during testing? Also, if the recorded data will show the vibrations. The question is to insure that a seller doesn’t attempt to hide any potential high results.

If the Radon Eye RD 200 is used in environment subjected to shock or vibration, it does stops the measurement. But it is not tamper proof. I hope this answers your question.
The two AA batteries included in the unit are not meant to power it while testing for radon. They are required to maintain power to the log file when the tester is unplugged from the AC power.
If you want to power the unit to run radon tests without using the AC power cable, a ‘step-up cable’ and external power bank are required and need to be purchased separately. This info is all in the included user manual.
