Differences
1. Page To Screen Technology
This is one of the significant differences between the Moleskine and the RocketBook Smart Notebook. It has a technology that allows you to write in the smart Notebook as well as display in the smart device at the same time. So, whatever you write and draw can be seen in real-time as well. You also have the option of changing the text of the colors. How cool is that? Also, if you are pretty lazy to type after a long day, you have the option of the written content to be transcribed. You can also send these scans, text, or content through the mail by pressing the little mail icon in the app. You can share each page separately with the mail option.
But recently there have been complaints regarding this technology. Users have complained that the content isn’t being transcribed expertly and not identifying the strokes accurately. We are uncertain whether the issue is regarding the Notebook or the pen. Some of the users mentioned that they did not have any problems while using the app.
2. Page Material And Number
Some people want their smart notebooks to be as real as their traditional books. In the RocketBook Everlast, it is made of the poly blend. This material helps the pages to be waterproof. So, you do not have to worry about the water falling on your pages. Like we said before, you can rub the pages using a damp microfiber cloth. Although it is easy, you have to wait for 15 seconds for the pages to dry. If you are a left-hander, it will be hard as pages can smear.
But in the Moleskine Smart Notebook, the papers feel real and original. But this makes the smart Notebook to be used only once. When we talk about pages, the Moleskine has 173 pages, and the RocketBook Everlast has 36 pages. Although Moleskine has more pages, you cannot reuse the book once empty. But the Rocketbook, even with 36 pages, can be reused. So, in this case, we think Rocketbook is better than Moleskine.
3. Design
When we talk about design, the Moleskine has advantages over pocketbook. The Rocketbook has a stiff hardcover. It also comes with a tight band to wrap the Notebook. These two are better than the RocketBook’s plastic cover. The RocketBook is made of the plastic sheet. The Moleskine has round edges. It gives it a tablet-like look which is chic and attractive. However, the Everlast provides the option of three colors. The book can be bought in 3 colors. The Moleskine only has black to offer. In Everlast, you can select from Red, Black, and Teal.
4. Pen
Both smart notebooks use different types of pens. The Rocketbook Everlast uses Pilot Frixion Pens, which are less expensive and readily available in different colors. These pens work with the thermal ink, which disappears when we apply heat. By applying heat, we mean methods like rubbing the page with its rubber tip or heating it using a hairdryer on the pages. You can also rub the pages using the tip of the pen. These pens are not limited to these smart notebooks. You can use them on any kind of page. As we said, you can buy more additional pens and highlighters too.
With the Notebook, you will also get a Pilot Frixion pen. Other than this, you can also buy the Pilot Frixion Clicker Retractable Pens with many color options. You can write and draw with any of these colors. Also, do take a look at the Pilot FriXion Light Erasable Highlighters. They can be used in any textbooks and notebooks.
The Moleskine Smart Notebook uses Pen+, which uses Ncoded technology. In this technology, it uses a camera near the nib where it recognizes every page. It not only identifies pages but also time and dates on the planner. It means that whatever you have written is transferred to your device and app. When the ink of the pen is over, you can even buy ink refills. These pens do not work on any other papers and work only on Moleskine Smart Notebooks. The pens come with a USB cable that is used for charging the pen. Remember that you need to charge these for at least two hours before using it. You are given with a ten pieces Zebra 4C-0.7 0.7mm Refill. These pens are sufficient for at least a year or so.
5. Erasability
RocketBook Everlast has a unique feature of erasing the pages, which makes it better than the Moleskine smart notebook. If you run out of pages in the Rocketbook Everlast, all you need is a moist cloth. With this wet microfiber cloth, you have to rub the pages and wait for 15 seconds to dry up. And then you are ready to use a new book again. You also have the option of applying a hairdryer to give out heat on these pages, which helps in erasing. These two different methods help you in saving a bit of budget by avoiding new notebooks. It also helps you in having one single Notebook for a long time. Unfortunately, the Moleskine Smart Notebook does not have the feature of reusing the book. You can use a smart Notebook only once.Similarities
1. Collaborate
The collaborate feature is handy if you want to share your work with someone else. You can share what you have written to your classmates, friends, family, or even colleagues. You can also avoid getting crowded in front of the whiteboard. Instead, you can have these notebooks placed in your laps. You can make corrections, display, or even see what others have written.
2. Cloud Sync & App Support
With these two smart notebooks, you can connect to your cloud and share documents very easily. You can connect your Notebook to your smart device as it supports both iOS and Android. Using these apps, you can store whatever you have written to your cloud. All you have to do is scan and transfer. How easy is that? You will have copies that can be stored as a PDF. You can upload it to your drive or Dropbox as well. All these features are present in the RocketBook Everlast and Moleskine Smart Notebook App. The Cloud Sync feature is useful when you are done with the book or if you are using a new book.

Thank you for putting this comparison together! It is just what I was looking for.
I love everything about the moleskin, with the one big exception that it is not reusable. If they changed that feature (to save some trees, and from people collecting hoards of notebooks – I would be all in!)
While the rocketbook has less features, I think it will fit my bill during the interim. I wish there was a hybrid of these two models. As well as a digital sticky note page for the notebooks!
Thank you again for writing this!

You CAN use the Rocketbook app with other notebooks. You make a blackboardered frame with icons on the bottom that you place over a regular notebook page. Here’s a YouTube that explains the hack.
