My friend loves to use SimpliSafe, and it is not surprising that his entire security suite is from SimpliSafe. That also includes his alarm system and cameras. Unfortunately, he faced a dilemma where his entire camera system wouldn’t work properly. As a result of that, he was not able to use the live feed. He contacted me to help him out.
Though he did his research online, he was not able to get it through. I did my research and even went on SimpliSafe’s support documentation. Based on the several hours of research that I did, I went to his home and was able to reset his SimpliSafe Camera.

- The easiest way to reset your SimpliSafe camera is to press and Hold the reset button for roughly 20 seconds.

How do I reconnect my SimpliSafe outdoor camera?
If your SimpliSafe outdoor camera has stopped recording. You might need to reconnect it to your base station. Follow these steps to get your security system back up and running:
- Make sure the battery is charged.
- Remove the camera from its mounting bracket, then plug the power supply into a power outlet.
- Press and hold down the reset button at the bottom of the camera until the LED light turns solid green. Which should take about 10 seconds.
- Let go of the button, wait for about 30 seconds, then repeat steps 2 and 3.
- Move the camera close enough to your router that you can see if it connects with WiFi. (the LED light will turn solid blue). If it doesn’t connect, repeat steps 2-4 until it does connect.
- Once the camera connects to WiFi, mount it back on its bracket. Point it toward where you’d like to record video footage.
- Go to Settings in your app and select “Add Cameras.” Select “Outdoor Camera” when prompted to name your new device. Then follow the instructions given in the app to finish setting up your camera.

After installing your SimpliSafe system, you may need to reset it. This can be done by accessing the SimpliSafe app on your phone or computer and following the steps below:
- Open the SimpliSafe app.
- Select “Reset” from the menu at the top of your screen.

- Confirm by checking a box next to “Reset Camera” and then click “Reset.”
- Once you’ve confirmed that you want to reset your camera, you’ll be prompted with a new QR code for you to scan with your phone’s camera to confirm that it has been reset properly.

The reset button is a little black button with an arrow in it. It is located on the bottom of your SimpliSafe indoor camera. If you press this little black button and hold it down for 5 seconds, your SimpliSafe will power off and then power back on again—and whatever happened during that time will be erased completely.
Are SimpliSafe cameras always recording?
