Due to an increase in thefts in our area, we decided to purchase a new Ring doorbell. It worked like a charm, and we were happy with the results. One day, there was a massive power shutdown due to a transformer blast in our entire area.
When the power came back on the next day, we tried switching on the device. Sadly, it did not work properly. We searched on the internet to find out the actual reason for this issue and were able to find a solution.
If you are facing a similar situation, then read on to find out which of these methods can work for you.
1. Check your Ring Doorbell’s Power Source
Quick Navigation
The doorbell is one of the most sensitive devices in your home. It requires a steady power source, whether that is a battery backup or an outlet.
If your Ring Doorbell is not receiving enough power, it won’t be able to turn on and off properly, which can cause issues with the doorbell button.
The first step in solving this issue is to make sure your Ring Doorbell is getting enough power.
To do this, check your Ring Doorbell’s power source in your doorbell configuration. You can do this by pressing the button on your Ring Doorbell for about 30 seconds to get the indicator light to turn off. Wait for the light to turn on again to see if it is receiving enough power.
If it isn’t, try moving your Ring Pro farther away from the doorbell button so that it receives more power.
2. Make sure your Ring Doorbell is Connected
The moment you receive an alert on your Ring Doorbell, you want to make sure it is connected.
This may seem obvious, but make sure you are using the right cord with your Ring Doorbell.
While it may work with a friend’s sequence, it isn’t going to work on your own.
If you have a different model, make sure you have the correct cord.
If you aren’t sure, you can go into your Ring app and look at the device settings for your Ring Doorbell.
Once you have confirmed it is connected, you can go ahead and make your Ring Pro discoverable.
3. Make sure your Ring Pro is Connected
Along with the doorbell, your Ring Pro is responsible for making your Ring system work.
This includes syncing with your phone so that you can receive alerts and transferring information between the Ring app and your doorbell.
If your Ring Pro isn’t connected, you won’t be able to take advantage of the full feature set of your Ring Doorbell. While it may be plugged in and charging, it isn’t connected.
To make sure your Ring Pro is connected, make sure you have the right cord. If you are not sure, you can go into your Ring app and look at the device settings for your Ring Pro.
If you have confirmed it is the right cord, you can make it discoverable.
4. Check your Wi-Fi Settings
For some Ring users, the power outage may be related to a weak Wi-Fi signal.
This could be the case for you if you are having trouble with your Ring Doorbell but your Ring Pro is working fine.
To check your Wi-Fi settings, go into your Ring app and tap the menu icon in the top-left corner.
From there, select Settings. Once you are in your Ring app settings,
you want to make sure that the signal strength for your Ring Doorbell is at a minimum.
Fix ring doorbell pro with no power issue:
There seem to be several factors that can cause your Ring gadget to lose connection. These are some of them:
- Your broadband connection is affected by a power failure.
- You lose electricity for a short while.
- A cable in your network configuration becomes loose for a short period.
- You modify the password for your Wi-Fi connection.
- Power loss is a problem with your Ring gadget.
It’s essential to remember that the majority of such scenarios are only short. In several cases,
the Ring system will automatically connect to the internet after the conditions that created the disconnection have passed. The device may, on rare days, stay disconnected. This is when you might go over the steps to see what’s causing the disconnect.
- Firstly, make sure the problems you’re having are caused by a lack of connection.
- To test the internet service of your Ring Doorbell, open the Ring application, choose your Ring Doorbell, and then Device Status.
- If the Ring Doorbell Pro is not connected to the internet, it will display “Offline” in the Networking box.
- Now, double-check that every one of your connections is correctly connected and that all of the indicators on the router’s top panel are lit up green.
- Test to see if any other Wi-Fi devices are experiencing troubles while accessing the network
- Disconnect the router for about seconds and then try reconnecting it again. Check to see whether your Ring Doorbell rejoins immediately.
Summing up, your Ring Doorbell Pro goes offline, it usually happens when there’s an internet outage. If this happens, the first thing you can try to fix it is to restart your router.
This is the best way to get your Ring Doorbell Pro online again. All you need to do is unplug the power cable from your Ring Doorbell Pro and then plug it back in.
