1. Material
This is the first factor to consider while choosing a ladder base stabilizer. This is because if the body is not strong enough to hold your weight, then it may break off and pose a threat of injury. Usually, the ladder stabilizers come in steel or aluminum constructions with plastic or rubber end caps. Along with the body, consider the material quality of accessories provided like end caps, bolts, pin chains, etc. In terms of the material quality, Werner AC78 is the best.

There are endless options of ladder stabilizers available to choose from. Rather choosing them as it is, also take a look at your ladder. Is the selected ladder stabilizer fits your ladder? It’s important; otherwise, your investment is going to be wasted. There are many brands which you can consider looking for regarding suitability with ladder stabilizers.
3. Ladder safety
Stability is the primary feature that is required in a stabilizer. It provides necessary ladder safety while working. The side extensions or the design should be considered for this. If it is strong and long enough to hold against the wall or roof, then it’s better to go for. Instead of purchasing a small ladder stabilizer, look for it with wide mouth opening. It enables to provide required steadiness to the whole structure, including ladder.
4. Installation
The installation must be simple and quick. It is ensured with the requirement of less additional tools or no use of tools. For instance, you are going to get the necessary hardware for easy installation. If it is less, it means that the installation is going to be very easy and quick. Depending upon your preference and requirements, you can search from different installation styles available. Also, it is advised to head over to the instruction manual to avoid any sort of confusion later on.
5. Use
If you are looking for the specific use of stabilizers other than cleaning gutters or roofs, you should look for it in specifications clearly. This is because some type of stabilizers won’t work on straight walls due to less stability and gripping feature. So, look for specific uses of the stabilizer. In terms of ease of use, Ladder-Max Stand-Off is right at the top of our list.
6. Weight
Although it’s a less important factor but may impact if you are looking for specifically lightweight ladder stabilizer. It doesn’t mean that heavy stabilizer is not good to go for. They have their own importance. But, the advantage of lightweight stabilizer is portability. You can easily carry them from one place to another along with the ladder. Jacob Noggle says
Manufacturer has specified that it is not suitable for Type III (200 lbs) aluminum, Type II (225 lbs) fiberglass extension ladders.
Mark Keane says
I have used these products through the years, your selection and best, appear to be a bias and paid advertisement.
The RoofZone Ladder Stabilizer – Gorilla Ladder Stabilizer is the best on your list. One, you refused to leave a picture and unlike the Werner, which makes a good ladder (they are all I buy), not being able to find a pic is pure BULLSHIT! Two, Werner has that step down angle to fit multiple styles of ladders but doesn’t completely fit it’s own firmly, I know because I own and went to the roof zone ladder stabilizer. Terrible pitch on a product that is clearly not the best choice.
